D'Ange Heureuse Montauban, a rugby town

Dernière mise à jour : 3 mai

We thank Le Petit Journal du Tarn-et-Garonne for publishing this article about the "Ange Heureuse Montauban, ville de rugby" project. After film school, Pierre-Jean, our CEO, directed his first documentary involving the youth of Fort in Montauban. This former national education teacher aims to transmit, exchange, and share. This led to a multitude of events around this project: the visit of Soria, a Beninese player, to Montauban; painting and photo exhibitions; the production of a documentary as well as a multitude of related videos.

For the fiftieth anniversary of USM rugby's French championship title, Montalbanais artist Pierre-Jean Fasan organized a superb exhibition on the theme of rugby's impact on the city of Montauban, in collaboration with the Foyer du Fort. Creative workshops were organized around archives from the 1967 season to the present day with young residents, and the older ones met the women's team during matches.

But that's not all. To accomplish this extensive work, all the forces surrounding the rugby world in our city were enlisted. Pierre-Jean extensively interviewed the 1967 veterans, as well as personalities like Jacky Larroque, Eric from Café Le Raymond, Canal Plus commentator Guilhem Garrigues, André Aubouy, and Thierry Barot, two Montalbanais living respectively in Switzerland and Hong Kong, Eric Blanc who is involved in interesting projects with the women's team... From these encounters, which faithfully capture the eloquence of rugby (jokes, festive spirit...), he produced magnificent interviews that can be found on YouTube under the "Pure Love Rugby Project" section.

The opening of this exhibition, which also features numerous photos and press clippings from the time, took place last week in front of a large audience. During the acknowledgments, Pierre-Jean Fasan expressed his gratitude to all those who helped him with this project, especially Noël Gayraud, president of the Fort association, and Patrick Juan, director of the Foyer, who greatly facilitated his task.

The exhibition is open until August 31, Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 2 pm to 7 pm. Postcards and photos are available for purchase, knowing that all proceeds will allow a young girl from the Benin national rugby team to join the USM women's section for a season. This is not by chance but the result of Pierre-Jean's involvement with Benin's associations as part of the "Rugby for All" operation. Originally, this action was set up to support street children, and gradually, an academy of rugby bringing together more than 130 children is emerging due to the emergence of young talents.
