GEWEP III

This documentary highlights the impact of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Programme (GEWEP III) in Rwanda. Funded by the Norwegian government and coordinated by CARE Rwanda, GEWEP III supports 173,000 vulnerable women and girls in the Southern Province.

The program is implemented by RWAMREC, in partnership with Pro-Femmes Twese Hamwe and African Evangelical Enterprises (AEE), and actively involves men and local leaders to prevent backlash and ensure sustainable change.

Through initiatives such as the Journey of Transformation, community activism, and collaboration with local opinion leaders, the program promotes gender equality, prevents sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), and fosters caring communities that support women’s empowerment.
